Passion in Business
Passion is one of the most effective motivators when it comes to launching a business!
says that launching a business simply to make money is likely to result in failure.
And, we agree with him that; “Passion is one of the most effective motivators when it comes to launching a business – and often one of the strongest predictors of whether an idea will lead to success.”
When we founded Jeri Limited in 2010 the sole purpose was to enable Riaan to focus on his passion for clarifying complicated Business Processes through Bespoke Software Development and that will never change.
We believe that building a business around your passion will make it easier to get through the hard times and stay focussed on what you love.
Every successful entrepreneur must have a passion that urges them onwards, it’s the essence of what keeps them motivated, so we compiled a list of 5 points to help you stay focussed on your passion whilst running a business.
Making a Difference
You don’t need to wait until you are successful to start making a difference.
Impact should be at the forefront of your mind. When you have a reason to follow your passion it will keep moving your business forward by also making a positive impact on others.
The most efficient way to enable yourself to focus on your passion is through effective planning.
Business Planning, Project Planning, Marketing Planning, Sales Planning and Financial Planning are all very powerful processes that will help
you to concentrate on your passion instead of getting caught up by the day-to-day administration of running a business.
It is so easy to lose sight of the bigger picture when you get consumed by your immediate aspirations.
When you set specific and realistic goals it helps you to stay on track with growing your business while still taking care of your passion.
SMART Goals were created by Peter Drucker in his 1954 book The Practice of Management - and SMART stands for goals that are:
- Agreed / Achievable / Attainable
- Realistic / Responsible / Receivable
It’s important to constantly work on developing your skills and add to your experience in order reinforce your commitment to your passion.
Many entrepreneurs are successful on their own, but running a small business can be made easier and more gratifying when you have a network to share it with.
This may include family and friends, colleagues and mentors, or networking groups who share your goals and understand your challenges.
We joined the Guildford Business Hub earlier this year and their input and support have been invaluable to us.
It is an amazing way to share, learn and make new connections.
So, although you also need a plethora of essentials to be successful in business, passion should always be the force that drives you, because when you're passionate, you also make those around you feel inspired.
